We should all focus on quality food and ensure we pack our plates with high-quality whole foods such as fruit, vegetables, nuts as well as carbs and proteins. Now don't get me wrong, I agree with the last part. He says it is a giant camouflage and people focus on calories rather than quality of food. Prof Spector says people who count calories can only lose weight in the short-term and will almost always bounce back to their original weight and go above it. That is why I was baffled by Professor Tim Spector's article on the Daily Mail where he says calorie counting is pointless. But we are all different and what works for one might not work for others. Social media is awash with fitness gurus telling you the best way to lose weight, look trim, get a six-pack etc. January has arrived again and with it comes all the usual deluge of advice and tips from nutritional experts, health experts, gym experts and so on.
